The building of Covenant Church East, was formerly known as “God’s Church for all the People”. The chapel was originally built by Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Reick, on their farm in 1931, as a place for their farm employees to worship. Known as the Old Bell Farm, the property was sold to Allegheny County, where the old Allegheny Airport was built. The chapel was dismantled piece by piece and moved to Greensburg in March 1942, by 15 Church of God ministers and 50 laymen. It was erected at its present location several years later.
Covenant Church East was born October of 1999, out of a church plant by Bishop Joseph L. Garlington, Sr., Senior Pastor of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh. Jim and Donna Adkins served as Senior Pastors of Covenant Church East, from it’s inception until their retirement in September of 2010. At that time, Jim and Diane Newsom became the Senior Pastors of Covenant Church East.
